About the Sony FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM Lens
The Sony FE 12-24mm f/2.8 GM is an ultra-wide zoom lens designed for Sony E-mount full-frame cameras, offering a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout its focal range. This lens features advanced G Master optics including three XA aspherical elements, two Super ED elements, and Nano AR Coating II to deliver sharp, well-corrected imagery with minimal aberrations and ghosting. The optical design provides a 122° to 84° angle of view with a minimum focusing distance of 11 inches, making it ideal for landscape, architecture, interior, and nature photography.
The lens incorporates an XD Linear Motor autofocus system with four separate motors for quick and silent focusing performance, along with a floating focus design that maintains consistent optical performance across the zoom and focus ranges. Dust and moisture-sealed construction with a fluorine-coated front element and integrated petal-shaped hood ensures durability in challenging shooting conditions. The rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces pleasing bokeh, and the rear gel filter holder provides creative filter options for professional photographers.
