The Sony FE 24-50mm f/2.8 G Lens is a compact mid-range zoom lens designed for Sony E-mount full-frame cameras, featuring a constant f/2.8 aperture and weighing just 440 grams. The optical design comprises 16 elements in 13 groups, including four aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion elements that work together to deliver high resolution, minimize distortion, and reduce chromatic aberrations. The lens incorporates fast linear autofocus motors that enable smooth, quiet, and precise focusing suitable for both photography and video work, with support for advanced features like focus tracking during 4K 120p slow-motion recording on compatible cameras.
The bright f/2.8 aperture with an 11-blade circular diaphragm produces excellent shallow depth-of-field bokeh, while the minimum focusing distance of 7.1 inches enables close-up shooting with a maximum magnification of 0.33x. Additional features include a de-clickable aperture ring for silent operation, manual zoom torque adjustment, dust and moisture resistance, a fluorine-coated front element, and support for Dynamic/Active Mode image stabilization on compatible bodies.
