The Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 is a lightweight, normal-length prime lens designed for Sony full-frame E-mount mirrorless cameras. The lens features a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture that provides excellent low-light performance while maintaining a compact form factor suitable for everyday and walkaround shooting. Its optical design incorporates one aspherical element and a double-gauss configuration to minimize aberrations and ensure consistent image quality across the frame.
The lens includes a DC actuator motor for quick and quiet autofocus performance in both stills and video work, with a minimum focusing distance of 1.48 feet. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces pleasing bokeh characteristics when using selective focus techniques, and the durable metal bayonet mount provides a solid connection to the camera body.
