About the Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens (Sony FE)
The Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD is a wide-angle zoom lens designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. The lens maintains a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture across its zoom range, providing consistent brightness and enhanced low-light performance suitable for landscape, astrophotography, and architectural work. The optical design incorporates XLD and LD elements that minimize chromatic aberrations, while BBAR coatings reduce flare and ghosting for improved contrast in challenging lighting conditions.
The RXD stepping motor delivers silent and rapid autofocus performance for both stills and video, with full-time manual focus override and a minimum focusing distance of 7.5 inches. The lens features a moisture-resistant construction and fluorine-coated front element for protection against environmental hazards and fingerprints. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth bokeh quality.
