The Nikon AF Nikkor 85mm f/1.8D is a fast telephoto lens designed for portrait, indoor sports, and stage photography. This lens features a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture with a rear focus system that enables fast and accurate autofocus, along with Super Integrated Lens Coating that minimizes flare and ghosting. The optical design comprises six elements in six groups, delivering sharp and detailed images across its aperture range of f/1.8 to f/16.
The lens is exceptionally compact for a telephoto, measuring 2.3 inches in length and weighing approximately 13.4 ounces, making it highly portable. It offers a close focus distance of 34 inches and is compatible with Nikon FX and DX format digital cameras as well as 35mm film cameras with built-in autofocus motors. The 62mm filter size and 9-blade aperture contribute to the lens's ability to produce smooth background blur for natural-looking portraits.
