The Silent Wave Motor autofocus system provides fast and quiet focusing with full-time manual override capability, while the Vibration Reduction image stabilization compensates for camera shake by up to 4.5 shutter speed stops.
This lens features an electromagnetic aperture mechanism for enhanced exposure control stability during fast continuous shooting, a rotating tripod collar for secure support in both vertical and horizontal orientations, and internal focusing that maintains the lens's overall length during autofocus operation.
