About the Nikon AF-S Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G ED Lens
The AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G ED is a versatile wide-angle prime lens designed for Nikon F-mount FX-format cameras, though it can also be used on DX models where it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length. The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture performs well in low-light conditions and allows for selective focus techniques with controlled depth of field. The optical construction features one extra-low dispersion element and one aspherical element that work together to minimize chromatic aberrations, spherical distortion, and color fringing for sharp, clear imagery with accurate color rendering.
The lens incorporates a Super Integrated Coating on individual elements to suppress internal reflections, flare, and ghosting for improved contrast in bright lighting conditions. A Silent Wave Motor provides fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance with full-time manual focus override and rear focusing system technology that maintains the lens length during focusing. The seven-blade rounded diaphragm produces pleasing out-of-focus quality, making this compact 10.76 oz lens well-suited for everyday walk-around photography and video applications.
