About the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G Lens
The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G is a short-telephoto prime lens designed for Nikon F-mount FX-format cameras, though it also provides a 127.5mm equivalent focal length when used on DX models. The lens features a notably fast f/1.4 maximum aperture and a rounded nine-blade diaphragm that together enable shallow depth of field effects and smooth bokeh quality, making it well-suited for portrait photography. Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings applied to the lens elements minimize reflections and reduce lens flare and ghosting, resulting in superior contrast and color rendering in bright and backlit conditions.
The lens incorporates a Silent Wave Motor autofocus system that delivers quick, quiet, and precise focusing performance while allowing full-time manual focus override. Internal focusing design maintains the lens's overall length during use and contributes to faster focusing speeds, and the bright f/1.4 aperture also excels in low-light shooting situations.
