The lens incorporates an Ultra-High Refractive Index element, aspherical elements, and multi-coated optics to minimize aberrations, distortion, and flare while maintaining sharpness across the zoom range. MEGA O.I.S. optical image stabilization enables handheld shooting by compensating for camera shake, while a stepping motor provides smooth, near-silent autofocus compatible with LUMIX cameras' contrast-detection systems. The lens features a rounded seven-blade diaphragm that produces smooth bokeh when using shallow depth of field techniques.
Weighing only 200 grams with a compact design, this lens offers a minimum focus distance of 90 centimeters and includes a 52mm filter thread. The optical construction consists of 12 elements in 9 groups, delivering consistent performance from f/4 to f/22 apertures.
