About the Samyang AF 24-70mm f/2.8 Lens (Sony FE)
This Samyang 24-70mm f/2.8 AF zoom lens for Sony E-mount delivers a versatile focal range suitable for landscapes, portraits, and general photography with a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. The optical design consists of 17 elements in 14 groups, including aspherical and ED elements, which contribute to sharp image quality and a 0.27x magnification ratio for close-focus shooting at a minimum distance of 13.8 inches. The nine-blade circular aperture produces natural bokeh and aesthetic starburst effects, while weather sealing at seven contact points protects against light dust, rain, and snow.
The lens features a linear stepping motor that provides quiet and precise autofocus control, complemented by cinematic video-focused features including parfocal performance and controlled AF speed during video recording to minimize focus wobble. Manual focus is supported through a linear MF control ring designed for video shooters, and a custom switch allows easy selection of aperture control and manual focus modes. Weighing 1 kg and measuring 88mm in diameter, this full-frame lens accepts 82mm front filters and operates with an aperture range from f/2.8 to f/22.
