The Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a wide-angle prime lens designed for Canon EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras, offering a 25.6mm equivalent focal length on APS-C sensors. Its f/1.4 maximum aperture enables excellent low-light performance and provides substantial control over depth of field for selective focus work. The optical design incorporates two low-dispersion (SLD) elements, three fluorite low-dispersion (FLD) elements, and two aspherical elements to minimize chromatic aberration, distortion, and spherical aberrations while maintaining high sharpness across the aperture range.
A super multilayered coating on all lens elements suppresses flare and ghosting to deliver high contrast and accurate color reproduction even in backlit conditions. The stepping autofocus motor delivers fast, precise, and quiet focusing suitable for both still photography and video applications. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces smooth bokeh, while the brass-constructed bayonet mount features dust and splash resistance for durability.
