The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art Lens is a constant-aperture standard zoom lens designed for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras in full-frame format, though it is also compatible with APS-C models where it provides a 36-105mm equivalent focal length. The lens features a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout its zoom range, making it well-suited for available light photography and selective depth of field control. The optical design includes six FLD elements, two SLD elements, and three aspherical elements that work together to minimize chromatic aberrations, spherical aberrations, and distortion while maintaining sharpness and contrast across the entire zoom range.
The lens incorporates an integrated stepping motor for quick and quiet autofocus with an optimized AF algorithm for smooth focusing performance. It offers a close minimum focus distance of 7.09 inches at the wide end and features an 11-blade rounded diaphragm that produces pleasing bokeh quality. Construction includes a chrome-plated brass bayonet mount with rubber seals for dust and splash resistance, making this lens suitable for demanding shooting conditions in the field.
