The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a portrait-length prime lens designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, offering a 112mm full-frame equivalent focal length. The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture enables excellent performance in low-light conditions while providing significant control over depth of field for selective focus work. The optical design incorporates two aspherical elements and one special low dispersion (SLD) element that work together to minimize spherical and chromatic aberrations, delivering sharp and color-accurate images.
A super multilayer coating reduces flare and ghosting for improved contrast even in backlit situations, while the stepping autofocus motor provides fast, precise, and nearly silent operation suitable for both photography and video. The rounded nine-blade diaphragm produces smooth bokeh, and the brass-bodied Micro Four Thirds mount features rubber sealing for dust and splash resistance. This compact and lightweight lens weighs only 9 ounces and balances optical performance with practical handling.
