About the Sony Vario-Tessar T* E 16-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Lens
The Sony Vario-Tessar T* E 16-70mm f/4 ZA OSS Lens is a versatile all-purpose zoom lens designed for Sony E-mount APS-C format cameras, offering a 24-105mm equivalent focal length range. The lens features a constant f/4 aperture throughout the zoom range, advanced ZEISS optical design with 16 elements including four aspherical elements and one extra-low dispersion element, and ZEISS T* anti-reflective coatings for enhanced clarity and contrast. Image stabilization via Optical SteadyShot helps reduce camera shake during handheld shooting, while the linear autofocus motor provides fast and silent focusing performance with a minimum focus distance of 13.8 inches.
This compact and lightweight lens is well-suited for general photography applications including landscapes, portraits, and everyday shooting situations. The rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces pleasing bokeh, and the robust optical design minimizes flaring, distortion, and chromatic aberrations for consistent image quality across the focal length range.
