The Sony FE 85mm f/1.4 GM II is a full-frame portrait prime lens featuring a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture with an XD linear motor autofocus system that delivers faster and more precise focusing performance than its predecessor. The optical design incorporates two XA elements and extra-low dispersion elements that minimize spherical and chromatic aberrations, resulting in improved edge-to-edge sharpness and smoother bokeh quality enhanced by an 11-blade rounded diaphragm. This lens is 20% lighter and 13% smaller than the previous generation while maintaining a robust, dust- and moisture-resistant construction suitable for both stills and video applications.

The 85mm f/1.4 GM II includes video-focused features such as minimized focus breathing, linear response manual focus, and a de-clickable aperture ring for silent aperture adjustments, making it well-suited for professional and event photography as well as cinematic video work.
