The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L USM is a telephoto zoom lens designed for Canon EF-mount DSLRs that delivers a portrait to medium telephoto focal range with a constant f/4 maximum aperture throughout the zoom range. The lens incorporates one fluorite element and two ultra-low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic aberration and color fringing, while a Super Spectra coating reduces flare and ghosting for improved contrast in bright lighting conditions. A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor provides fast and quiet autofocus performance with internal focusing and full-time manual focus override, complemented by a focus limiter switch that restricts focusing to either 3.9 feet to infinity or 9.8 feet to infinity.

As a member of Canon's L-series, this lens features weather-sealed construction for working in inclement conditions and weighs only 1.55 pounds, making it relatively compact and portable for a telephoto zoom of this range. The rounded eight-blade diaphragm contributes to pleasing out-of-focus rendering when using selective focus techniques.
