The Canon RF 16-28mm f/2.8 IS STM Lens is a compact wide-angle zoom designed for Canon RF-mount full-frame cameras. It features a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture, enabling consistent low-light performance and shallow depth of field, while a leadscrew-type STM motor provides fast and quiet autofocusing with minimal focus breathing during video recording. The optical design incorporates 16 elements in 13 groups, including four Ultra-low Dispersion elements and two aspherical elements, complemented by Canon's Super Spectra Coating to minimize flare and ghosting.

The lens offers up to 5.5 stops of image stabilization on its own and up to 8 stops when paired with a compatible camera's in-body stabilization system, resulting in sharper handheld imagery.
