The Leica M-P (Typ 240) is a full-frame digital rangefinder camera featuring a 24MP CMOS sensor paired with Leica's Maestro image processor for exceptional image quality with low noise and smooth tonal gradation. The camera maintains Leica's rangefinder tradition with a bright 0.68x optical viewfinder incorporating split and superimposed manual focusing, automatic parallax correction, and an image field selector for versatile composition. Its minimalist design distinguishes itself by omitting the traditional red dot logo in favor of an engraved Leica script on the brass top plate, while the magnesium alloy and brass body with integrated rubber seals provides dust and weather resistance.

The camera supports a sensitivity range from ISO 100 to 6400, full HD 1080p video recording at 24 or 25 fps, and continuous shooting at 3 fps for up to 24 frames. It features a 3.0-inch LCD monitor with sapphire crystal covering and focus peaking capabilities for precise manual focus confirmation, complementing the optical viewfinder experience.
