The Nikon D610 is a full-frame DSLR camera featuring a 24.3-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor paired with the EXPEED 3 image processor to deliver high-resolution imagery with excellent detail retention and low-light sensitivity up to an expandable ISO 25,600. The camera is equipped with a Multi-CAM 4800 autofocus system using 39 focusing points to ensure fast and accurate focus acquisition across a wide range of lighting conditions, including compatibility with f/8 and faster lenses when used with teleconverters. The D610 captures full HD 1080p video at up to 30 frames per second with manual exposure control and supports continuous shooting at 6 frames per second at full resolution.

The camera body is constructed from magnesium alloy for durability and portability, includes a 3.2-inch 921,000-dot LCD monitor for image review and live view operation, and features dual SD memory card slots for flexible recording options. Additional capabilities include a built-in pop-up flash with wireless commander mode for controlling remote flashes, manual video recording controls with dedicated microphone and headphone inputs, and support for optional wireless connectivity via the WU-1b adapter and GPS geotagging through the GP-1A unit.
