The Nikon D90 is a 12.3-megapixel digital SLR camera featuring a DX-format CMOS sensor and Nikon's EXPEED image processing engine, which delivers sharp details, smooth tones, and low noise across a wide ISO sensitivity range from 100 to 6400. The camera combines essential features for both enthusiast and everyday photography, including a bright pentaprism viewfinder with 96% frame coverage, a 3-inch high-resolution LCD display, an 11-point autofocus system with multi-CAM 1000 sensor module, and 4.5 frames-per-second continuous shooting capability.

The D90 introduced D-Movie mode to DSLR photography, enabling users to record 720p HD video clips at 24 frames per second while maintaining the superior image quality provided by the camera's large sensor and the flexibility of interchangeable NIKKOR lenses.
