The NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.2 S is Nikon's first 35mm f/1.2 prime lens, designed for full-frame Z-mount cameras and suitable for event, documentary, lifestyle, and portrait photography. The lens features an f/1.2 maximum aperture that excels in low-light environments and produces smooth, flattering bokeh through its 11-blade rounded diaphragm and complex optical design of 17 elements in 15 groups.
The lens employs a multi-focus system with dual STM motors for fast and quiet autofocus performance, enabling close focusing as near as 11.8 inches and offering video-optimized features such as a clickless control ring and focus-breathing suppression. Two customizable L-Fn buttons and a programmable control ring allow for quick adjustment of functions like aperture and exposure compensation, while dust and drip resistance provided by sealed barrel components ensures reliable performance in various shooting conditions. The 82mm filter thread matches the Z-mount 50mm f/1.2 and 85mm f/1.2 lenses, and specialized coatings including Meso Amorphous, Nano Crystal, and ARNEO minimize ghosting and flare for accurate image rendering.
