About the Nikon F Nikkor 135mm f/2.8

The Nikon Nikkor-Q Auto Non-AI 135mm f/2.8 is a vintage manual focus lens manufactured between 1965 and 1973, featuring a straightforward four-element optical design housed in a durable all-metal body. This lens offers a maximum aperture of f/2.8 with a 7-blade diaphragm, a 225-degree focus throw for precise manual focusing, a built-in lens hood, and a 52mm filter thread. The automatic diaphragm stays wide open for composing and focusing, then stops down automatically at the moment of exposure.

The lens is well-regarded for its rich color saturation, optical quality, and pleasant bokeh characteristics, with community ratings averaging 4.7 out of 5. Its 135mm focal length makes it suitable for portraiture, video, and landscape work, and it can be converted into a macro lens with the addition of a close-up diopter. As a Non-AI (pre-AI) lens with meter-coupling prongs, it pairs perfectly with older Nikon F and Nikkormat bodies and can be adapted to mirrorless systems with AI conversion or mounted on DSLR bodies without metering rings.
