The Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens is a standard zoom designed for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras, offering a 35mm equivalent focal length of 27-75mm. It features a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture throughout the entire zoom range, making it well-suited for low-light photography and shallow depth-of-field work. The optical design incorporates three high-precision glass-molded aspherical elements and a special low-dispersion element to minimize distortion, chromatic aberrations, and spherical aberrations while maintaining excellent sharpness.
The lens includes a fast and nearly silent stepping motor for autofocus, which is particularly useful for video work and fast-moving subjects. It has a minimum focusing distance of 4.8 inches with a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.8, enabling macro-style close-up photography.
