The Sigma fp is a full-frame mirrorless camera featuring a 24.6-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, 14-bit color depth, and an electronic shutter system housed in a lightweight aluminum body weighing under one pound. The camera captures high-resolution stills at up to 18 frames per second and supports UHD 4K video recording at 30 frames per second with 12-bit CinemaDNG internal recording capability. Its contrast-detection autofocus system includes 49-point selection modes, face and eye detection, and focus peaking, while the native ISO range of 100 to 25,600 can be expanded to 6 to 102,400 for greater shooting flexibility.

The camera includes a 3.15-inch touchscreen LCD with 2.1 million dots for composing and reviewing shots, along with specialized video features such as Teal and Orange color grading, Director's Viewfinder simulation, HDR shooting, and cinemagraph creation. A 42-point dust and splash-proof seal with effective heat sink design enables reliable operation during extended use in challenging environments, while the L-Mount lens interface provides compatibility with lenses from Leica, Panasonic, and Sigma. Connectivity options include USB 3.1 Type-C and micro-HDMI ports for external peripherals and media output.
