The lens features two extra-low dispersion glass elements and Zeiss T* anti-reflective coatings to minimize chromatic aberration, flare, and ghosting while maintaining superior contrast and color fidelity.

Handling and control are enhanced through an Auto Clutch mechanism that prevents the focusing ring from rotating during autofocus operation, a focus hold button for quick access control, and internal focus technology for faster and more reliable autofocus performance. The nine-blade circular diaphragm produces pleasing bokeh when using selective focus techniques, while the minimum focus distance of 2.4 feet with 0.25x magnification allows for closer subject framing.
