Alpha NEX-5R Mirrorless Camera

The Sony Alpha NEX-5R is a compact mirrorless camera that combines the image quality and interchangeable lens capability of a DSLR with a body that is approximately half the size of traditional DSLR cameras. The camera features a 16.1-megapixel APS-C-format Exmor HD CMOS sensor and Sony's Fast Hybrid autofocus system, which combines phase-detection and contrast-detection AF technologies to achieve sharp focus in 0.3 seconds and track moving subjects with precision. The 3.0-inch LCD screen tilts up to 180 degrees and supports touch functionality, including touch-activated shutter release, making self-portraits and discreet framing convenient to compose.

The NEX-5R captures full HD video at 60p, 60i, and 24p frame rates with continuous autofocus capability, and supports both AVCHD and MP4 codecs for different quality and file-size preferences. Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity allows direct transfer of images to smartphones and tablets via the PlayMemories Mobile app, enabling quick sharing and backup of images without removing the memory card. The camera accepts Sony E-mount lenses, providing access to a growing lineup of compact and lightweight lenses designed specifically for mirrorless camera systems, and offers USB charging convenience for in-camera battery recharging.
