About the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD Lens (Canon EF)
The Tamron SP 35mm f/1.4 Di USD is a fast, wide-angle prime lens designed for Canon EF-mount full-frame cameras and compatible with APS-C models at an equivalent focal length of 56mm. The lens features an exceptionally bright f/1.4 maximum aperture that excels in low-light conditions and provides excellent control over depth of field for selective focus techniques. Its optical design incorporates four low-dispersion elements and three aspherical elements that work together to minimize chromatic aberrations, distortion, and spherical aberrations, resulting in high clarity and sharpness throughout the aperture range.
The lens employs a Ultrasonic Silent Drive motor paired with a Dynamic Rolling-cam mechanism for fast and quiet autofocus performance, while also supporting full-time manual focus override with a minimum focus distance of 11.8 inches. A second-generation BBAR-G2 coating applied to the internal elements reduces flare and ghosting, improving contrast and color accuracy in backlit conditions. The construction includes moisture-resistant materials and a fluorine coating on the front element for protection against dust and environmental contaminants, making it suitable for use in challenging weather conditions.
