About the Canon CN7x17 KAS S Cine-Servo 17-120mm T2.95 Lens (Canon EF)
The Canon CN7x17 KAS S Cine-Servo 17-120mm T2.95 is a motorized zoom lens with EF mount designed for both broadcast and cinema workflows on Super 35mm sensors. The lens features a 7x zoom range with servo-driven zoom, focus, and iris controls operated by a detachable motor unit, making it suitable for single-operator shoulder-mounted work or remote studio control via standard 20-pin broadcast controllers. The lens can be configured for full manual operation by removing the drive unit, and it supports cinema-standard accessories including matte boxes, follow focuses, and rod-based lens support systems.
Optical performance is enhanced by aspherical lens elements, Canon Fluorite coating, and ultra-low dispersion (UD) glass to minimize chromatic aberration and maintain uniform sharpness across the frame. The 11-blade aperture design produces circular bokeh while reducing diffraction effects, and a three-group inner focus system minimizes breathing during focus adjustments. Additional features include a 180-degree focus ring with dual metric and imperial scales, adjustable flange-back compatibility, and support for macro operation and fully closing iris for calibration procedures.
