About the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM Lens
The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM is a professional-grade wide-angle zoom lens designed for digital photography, offering a shorter starting focal length than its predecessor with improved close-focusing capability and enhanced peripheral brightness. The lens features a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout its zoom range, along with Canon's USM (Ultrasonic Motor) technology for silent and high-speed autofocus performance. Distortion and optical aberrations are minimal for a zoom lens of this range and capability.
This L-series lens incorporates entirely internal focusing and zooming, ensuring the physical length remains constant during operation. The lens maintains a 77mm filter thread shared with other Canon L-series zooms, and includes a rear gelatin filter slot for additional optical correction. Built with dust and moisture resistance equivalent to Canon's professional EOS 1-V and 1-D cameras, it delivers the optical performance quality of fixed focal-length lenses in a versatile zoom package.
