About the Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens
The Canon EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM is a professional-grade telephoto prime lens designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, delivering a 480mm equivalent focal length when used on APS-C models. The lens features a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture, optical image stabilization with four stops of correction and three separate stabilization modes, and advanced optical elements including two fluorite components and sub-wavelength coatings that minimize chromatic aberration, flare, and ghosting. The ring-type ultrasonic motor autofocus system provides fast and quiet performance with full-time manual focus override, while additional focusing controls include power focus for video, focus preset, and a focus limiter switch for flexible operation across varying shooting scenarios.
Weather-sealed construction, a detachable rotating tripod collar, and a rounded nine-blade diaphragm for pleasing out-of-focus rendering round out this L-series lens's professional capabilities. The lens is compatible with Canon's optional 1.4X and 2X teleconverters, allowing further extension of its focal length when needed.
