The Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM is a fast wide-angle prime lens designed for Canon EF-mount full-frame DSLRs, though it also performs on APS-C models with a 56mm equivalent focal length. The lens features advanced optical elements including a Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics element that minimizes chromatic aberrations, two aspherical elements, and one ultra-low dispersion element that collectively deliver sharp, high-contrast images with excellent color accuracy. A ring-type ultrasonic motor provides fast and quiet autofocus with full-time manual focus override, while the L-series construction offers dust and moisture sealing along with fluorine coatings on exposed elements for durability and easy maintenance.
The f/1.4 maximum aperture excels in low-light conditions and provides significant control over depth of field for selective focus work, complemented by a rounded nine-blade diaphragm that produces pleasing out-of-focus rendering.
