The optical design incorporates two Ultra-Low Dispersion glass elements and three aspherical elements to minimize chromatic and spherical aberrations, while a Super Spectra coating reduces flare and ghosting for improved contrast in bright lighting conditions.
This lens features a three-stop effective Image Stabilizer system to reduce camera shake, enabling handheld shooting in lower light situations and with slower shutter speeds. The ring-type Ultrasonic Motor provides fast, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance with full-time manual focus override, and the rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces a smooth out-of-focus quality for selective focus techniques.
