The Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM is a telephoto zoom lens designed for full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras, offering a versatile focal length range from 100mm to 500mm in a relatively portable design. The lens features optical image stabilization that reduces camera shake by up to five stops, making it suitable for handheld use in challenging lighting conditions, and includes a Dual Nano USM autofocus system that delivers fast, nearly silent focusing with full-time manual focus override. Advanced optical construction incorporates one Super UD element and six UD elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and color fringing across the entire zoom range, while a configurable Control Ring allows adjustment of exposure settings directly from the lens.
Weather-sealed construction with fluorine coatings on the front and rear elements protects against dust, moisture, and fingerprints, making the lens capable of use in inclement conditions. The rotating zoom ring features torque adjustment for customizable handling feel, and the lens is compatible with optional Canon Extender RF 1.4x and 2x teleconverters to further extend the effective focal length range within the 300-500mm region.
