The Sigma 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary lens is a telephoto zoom designed for Canon EF-mount cameras, delivering a versatile focal range in a compact and lightweight package. The optical design incorporates four Special Low Dispersion elements and Super Multi-Layer Coating to minimize chromatic aberrations and lens flare while maintaining contrast and color accuracy across the entire zoom range. An integrated Hyper Sonic Motor provides fast and quiet autofocus with full-time manual focus override, while an Optical Stabilizer system helps reduce camera shake for sharper handheld images.
The lens features a durable construction with Thermally Stable Composite material, a brass bayonet mount for precision, and both twist and push-pull zoom mechanisms for convenient field-of-view control. Additional refinements include a rounded nine-blade diaphragm for smooth bokeh, water- and oil-repellent front element coating, and dust- and splash-resistant mount sealing for reliable performance in various environmental conditions.
