The Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Contemporary lens is a versatile all-in-one zoom designed for Canon EF-mount APS-C cameras, providing a 28.8-480mm equivalent focal length range on a compact, lightweight body. The optical design incorporates four FLD elements, one SLD element, and three aspherical elements to minimize chromatic aberrations, distortion, and spherical aberrations while a Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces lens flare and ghosting for high contrast and accurate color reproduction. The lens features a Hyper Sonic Motor for fast and quiet autofocus with full-time manual focus override, an Optical Stabilizer system to minimize camera shake, and a rounded seven-blade diaphragm for pleasing bokeh quality.
Additionally, the lens is well-suited for macro photography with a 1:3 maximum magnification ratio and 1.3-foot minimum focusing distance, making it capable of close-up work while maintaining its wide to telephoto range. The construction uses thermally stable composite materials and a brass bayonet for precision and durability across varying temperature conditions, and a zoom lock switch prevents accidental zoom adjustments during use.
