About the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary Lens (Leica L)

The Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary Lens is a wide-angle prime lens designed for full-frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras, though it can also be used on APS-C models where it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length. The f/2 maximum aperture delivers excellent low-light performance and depth of field control while maintaining a compact, lightweight form factor suitable for landscape, street, and reportage photography. Optical elements including three aspherical elements and one SLD element minimize aberrations and distortion for sharp, accurate rendering, while the Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces ghosting and flare for improved color fidelity and contrast.

The lens features a smooth stepping motor autofocus system with internal focusing for responsive operation during both photo and video work. As part of Sigma's I Series, it includes a manual aperture ring with an 'A' position for camera-based aperture selection and an all-metal barrel construction with knurled components for enhanced tactile control. The rounded nine-blade diaphragm provides pleasing bokeh quality, and the weather-sealed mount with rubber sealing offers dust and splash resistance for working in inclement conditions.
