Its optical design incorporates eight elements across seven groups to render exceptionally smooth, rounded bokeh with a 9.45-inch minimum focusing distance, making it versatile for everything from standard photography to close-up work. The lens features a stepping autofocus motor that delivers fast, precise, and near-silent performance for both still photography and video work, with full-time manual focus override also available.
A seven-blade rounded diaphragm contributes to the lens's signature pleasing bokeh quality, while the brass-constructed L-mount features rubber sealing for dust and splash resistance. Weighing only 7.58 ounces and measuring 1.82 inches in length, this Contemporary-series optic balances optical performance with practical portability, and it includes a lens hood for added protection and flare control.
