About the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens (Canon EF)
The Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon EF is a fast portrait prime that features a maximum aperture of f/1.4, enabling shallow depth-of-field control and exceptional performance in low-light conditions. The optical design incorporates two SLD elements, one anomalous partial dispersion element, and one aspherical element that work together to minimize aberrations and deliver sharp, high-contrast images throughout the focusing range. A Super Multi-Layer coating reduces lens flare and ghosting to ensure color-neutral imagery, while the Hyper Sonic autofocus motor provides quick and quiet focusing with full-time manual focus override for fine adjustments.
The lens is constructed from thermally-stable composite material combined with traditional metals, and features a brass bayonet mount for durability and precision. A rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to smooth, attractive out-of-focus rendition, and the lens is fully compatible with Sigma's USB Dock for firmware updates and lens customization.
